Hi
Does anyone have a letter I can send to the school regarding parental rights
Or is there any links also to what our rights are, or any templates
I've emailed the x wife solicitor, and they haven't replied as of yet. I'll be sending them the same letter too if they don't want to co-operate
Then I'll show the judge too as they're being un co-operative
I'm hoping the school and solicitors will help. The school seemed assitive, they said I need to be added to SIMS system via x wife.
Only thing is x wife and solicitors are not assisting me....it's day 1 they have not replied as I sent the email on Friday and it's Monday now
Just wanted to update and say thanks guys for responses
Schools have been giving positive response and have added me to their system for update. It may only be two updates a year or so, but it something to work/go on.
I think patience was the key here for me too

Here is a template. See what you think. It needs editing to your situation. This is quite a soft approach. You can up the pressure if they do not cooperate. Better to start with minimal force, in my view:
Dear Mr/Ms Headteacher Name
CHILDâS/CHILDRENS NAMES
I am the Father of Joe and Amy Surname and write to formally introduce myself. I have equal parental responsibility for the children, along with Mrs Ex Wife.
I would be grateful if you could please ensure that I receive all copies of school reports, newsletters, letters to parents and any other information sent to parents, such as information on upcoming school trips or school events etc. Also access and logins to any school apps the school is using for communication or paying for items.
Unfortunately communication between the childrenâs Mother and myself is extremely difficult and I ask please, that you contact us both separately and confidentially with any information. I am happy to receive the above requested information by email if this is easier for you (my email address is above).
Currently the children spend Wednesdays and every other week-end with me, plus half the school holidays and I will be collecting them from school every Wednesday and alternate Fridays, and dropping them off at school every Thursday.
I enclose a certified copy of my passport/driving licence to verify my identity, along with a copy of the Child Arrangements order which confirms the above information.
I would be happy to come in and meet with you and provide any further information you may need and please feel free to call me if you wish to discuss any of the above.
I hope both Joe and Amy are settling in well â they seem to be very much enjoying the school to me. Joe in particular says he loves the art classes. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns about them, and ask please that this letter and accompanying documents are kept on the childrens files.
Yours sincerely
YOUR NAME (Sign your name above)
Iâm assuming you do have parental responsibility for the child(ren). Just send a brief email to the school headmaster stating that the child(ren) have 2 parents that equally share parental responsibility and you are requesting the school add you to all systems they have in use.
The school IT teams control the email distribution list, the SIMS contacts and any other portals they may be using for homework. Your child will have a login for these and the school could provide you their login details so you can engage in their homework progress. If SIMS, then they can send you your own login so you can access the same instant messaging. Good luck, be factual and polite, they should have no grounds to refuse
